Overview

Acapulco is almost mythical in the world’s imagination. A historical site from the middle of the twentieth century, you can pretty well date Mexican tourism itself back to the creation of Acapulco. From the “Price is Right” years, when packages awarded there the only ones given for a vacation spot outside the United States, through the stagnation and the bleak years of the later 1970’s and 80’s, Acapulco has survived.

Remember when everyone would tell you how bleak were the polluted canals of Venice in Italy? Like over-touristed Venice, Acapulco has made a terrific comeback. New resorts and cleaned up beaches make Acapulco more attractive than ever.
